Grazie mille, Phil
Dear Phil, I had the chance to read an interview you released to an italian magazine, lately. Usually I don't trust the media, anyway the question was: You and Genesis had an enormous success in Italy. Do you know the reason? Your reply was "I don't know why...italian funs can listen the music, but they cannot understand my/our songs..."
I "discovered" You and the Genesis since I was 16 years, Now I am 55, 5 less than you. In 1987 and in 2007 I was in Rome, far 700 km from my home, just to have the chance to listen your live music. For years I have been trying to improve my english just to uderstand any single word of your songs. In the end, I realized that I don't need to translate your songs because your melodies can touch my hearth independently. They marked my life in the last 40 years: if I need to remember something, all I have to do is to turn on my CD player (actually, in the seventies I had a wonderful turn-table). I am sorry for my poor english, but what I wish to say is that your songs and your passion for music are a universal message.
I would like to tell you much more, but I had the need to tell you: Thanks a lot for giving to me the chance to pass my life listening your songs, as a single and as a Genesis singer...Your songs are part of my past and my future. Take care of you.
